Due to this fun hobby, I enjoy not just making syrup but meeting syrupmakers as they do their work. I have met many Missouri syrupmakers in my travels to some hidden corners of the State, and they’re some of the nicest folks! I have spoken about the hobby to various groups in our State, given telephone interviews to radio stations, and I was interviewed for an episode of Show-Me Ag on KMOS public television station in Warrensburg. I have a half hour Powerpoint presentation about Missouri syrupmaking that would be of interest to the public, and especially to those interested in getting involved. If you have interest in such a presentation, please reach me through the Contacts page of this website to see if we can work out a mutually acceptable schedule and location where COVID precautions can be taken. I prefer to make presentations in the Fall, to give folks some time to get ready for sap flow. I am not available during syrupmaking season. At the in -person presentations, I give a away a few tree tapping kits with basic instructions so that folks give it a try.
